FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What are eyelash extensions and how are they applied?

Eyelash extensions are single synthetic lashes applied directly to the natural lash. They are placed close to (but not touching) the lash line with a semi-permanent adhesive. A single extension (classic) or up to 8 super fine extensions (volumes) are applies to a single isolated lash. They are applied carefully, one by one using specially designed tweezers. The whole process takes around 2-2.5 hours for full sets and 1-1.5 hours for infills, depending on how many natural lashes you have and the set type.

  • How long do eyelash extensions last?

Your eyelash extension retention will vary based off your individual lash cycle and aftercare. Everyone’s lash cycle is different, however on average you should be experiencing a turnover of your natural lashes every 6 weeks.

To maintain your eyelash extensions, It is recommended to infill your set every 2-4 weeks (as long as there is 40% remaining). During an infill appointment, any outgrown lashes are removed and replaced with new ones. If you follow proper aftercare, your extensions will last longer.

  • Do eyelash extensions damage your natural lashes?

Eyelash extensions will not damage your natural lashes if applied properly. To ensure the long-term health of your lashes, it is highly recommended listening to any advice given at the consult or ongoing infill appointments regarding the maximum thickness and lengths that can be used based off your natural lashes.

  • I have made a booking to get eyelash extensions. Is there anything I need to do beforehand?

Please come to your appointment with clean eyes and lashes, free from makeup (especially waterproof mascara). Some mascara oils can prevent the extensions to be bonded correctly. Please use an oil free makeup remover and don’t use any oil or petroleum based products on or around the eye 24 hours prior.

Lash lifts/perming are not recommended for eyelash extension application. It is extremely difficult to apply extensions on them due to the direction of the natural lash. If you have had a lash lift in the last 2-3 months please ensure they have dropped prior to your appointment.

  • What is the after care for eyelash extensions?

    • Avoid mascara on your extensions

    • Cleanse your lashes at least 3 times a week using a lash safe cleanser (available to purchase in salon). You may need to clean them often if you have an oily skin type or wear makeup frequently.

  • Can I swim/shower/get my lashes wet?

Yes! Please wait 24 hours post service to wet your lashes as the adhesive is still curing. After 24 hours you can get them wet however, please note that salt water and chlorine will break down adhesive quicker, the best way to avoid this is by washing your lashes with a lash safe cleanser directly after swimming, or at least rinse them off with fresh water.
